A hard and sturdy cutting board made of yamazakura (mountain cherry) wood.
It also works with serrated blades such as bread knives.
You will want to take it along on picnics and camping trips.
Its look changes with the passage of time, and even the knife marks come to feel rich in character.

To protect the surface of the wood while keeping the smooth look of its grain, and to make stains and dirt less likely to stick, the board is finished by working in a blend of linseed oil and tung oil, 100% plant-based oil.
If it becomes dry after repeated washing, applying oil at home will restore a moist feel and also make oil stains and dirt less likely to stick.

"About the Oil"
Basically, you may apply any oil you have at home, but oils are divided into drying oils, which dry quickly, semi-drying oils, which dry slowly, and non-drying oils, which do not dry.

Drying oils dry easily and are not sticky, whereas semi-drying oils and non-drying oils stay sticky.
Therefore, if you use a semi-drying or non-drying oil, apply only a very small amount, wipe it off well after application, and then let it dry.
In every case the oil is absorbed into the wood, giving it a moist feel and making oil stains and dirt less likely to stick.

After applying oil with a cloth or paper towel, it will dry more easily if you stand the board in a dish rack or rest it on chopsticks or the like so the bottom is raised. It dries in about a day, so whenever it seems to be getting dry, feel free to care for it.

*Caution: Oils are said to be capable of spontaneous combustion. To prevent spontaneous combustion, please follow the precautions of disposing of used cloths with oil on them by burning them or soaking them in plenty of water.
