Starting with his great victory at the Battle of Okehazama, Nobunaga rose rapidly, brought the Muromachi shogunate of the time to its end, and became the first ruler of the realm in an age when the low overthrew the high.
He is also a warlord known for many fearless and fierce episodes, and is counted as one of the Three Heroes of the Sengoku period. The kabuto is distinguished by the Oda family crest, the 'Oda mokko,' placed at the center of the front crest.

Because a kabuto display carries the meaning of 'protecting life,' it is generally said that each person should have one display of their own.
It is generally displayed from around the spring equinox to mid-April and put away around mid-May.
There is reportedly no particular rule about which direction to face when displaying it. You may display it only during the Boys' Festival season to renew your spirit once a year, but because the helmet is a decoration meant to "protect life," it is also said to be good to keep it on display all year round as a charm against accidents and disasters.
