[Highlights]
・Japanese tradition: Japanese wax candles
・Natural, plant-derived materials
The Japanese wax candle "Katoumado" is based on the concept of "Yobanashi," an advanced tea gathering in the tea ceremony held at night.
Since ancient times, people have enjoyed gatherings in rooms lit by moonlight.
Outside the window, a gentle breeze occasionally blows, and you can hear raindrops, the sounds of the koto and flute, and the voices of insects and birds, while the scents of the season drift by.
Gazing at the moon, you think of family and friends far away in your hometown.
Gazing at the moon, you talk together about your dreams for the future.
Gatherings have been enjoyed in the glow of candlelight.
Features of the Japanese wax candle "Katoumado"
・The wick is made from washi paper and rush (igusa)
・Its shape means no dedicated nail-type candle holder is needed, and it can be used on a non-flammable dish you have at home
・The walls of wax stand upright, so melted wax is less likely to drip
・Made only from plant-based wax, it uses renewable ingredients and is gentle on the environment
・Compared with paraffin candles, it produces no soot even with a large flame
・Contains rare and luxurious "tea seed oil" extracted from tea seeds, along with Sayama tea
・A design that is not limited to Japanese-style rooms
・A popular souvenir from Japan
------------------------------------------------------
Green: The scent of Sayama tea. Popular with visitors from Europe and America.
Sayama tea is grown mainly in the southwestern part of Saitama Prefecture. It is considered the northernmost tea-growing region, and the tea extracted from its thick, fleshy leaves is made using a distinctive "hiire" (final firing) method.
For Katoumado, we captured the "tea fragrance" extracted from the part of Sayama tea with an especially rich aroma and sealed it into the wax. We have also finished it with a Sayama tea scent that evokes the atmosphere of freshly picked tea.
Pink: The scent of sakura tea. Sakura tea is the "sakura-yu" served on celebratory occasions. It carries the message "May your life bloom!" for a new start in life.
Ivory: Unscented, with a faint aroma of tea. It can also be used at meals and tea gatherings.
