About Tajima Glass

Tajima Glass is a glassmaker producing “Edo glass” and “Edo kiriko” (Edo cut glass), crafts handed down since the Edo period. We don't want the techniques of the Edo period to disappear; we want to carry the tradition into the future. At Tajima Glass, we preserve the techniques of mold blowing, thin-stem work, mole (applied glass thread decoration), casing, and stretching. Rather than mass-producing by machine, everything is made by hand, and every piece is an original, one of a kind.

Mt. Fuji Glass, Winner of the Commissioner of the Japan Tourism Agency Award

Snow-capped Mt. Fuji is expressed on the bottom of the glass by sand carving. This glass won the Grand Prix and the Commissioner of the Japan Tourism Agency Award for fiscal 2015 at the “Omiyage Grand Prix,” held by the Japan Tourism Agency of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism since fiscal 2004. The color of the drink poured into the glass reflects off the mountain's surface, so you can enjoy a variety of expressions.

Sakura Kiriko Mt. Fuji Glass

A collaboration between Edo glass and Edo hana-kiriko (flower-cut glass). Designed with Mt. Fuji and cherry blossoms, this glass is a fine choice for the cherry blossom season and for celebrations alike. The glass comes wrapped in a cloth printed with an Edo chiyogami pattern of cherry blossoms.

Mt. Fuji Premium Glass

A new Edo kiriko model joins the Mt. Fuji Glass series. Among Edo kiriko patterns, “kikutsunagi” (linked chrysanthemums) is one of the most iconic and demands a high level of skill. “Hayate” cuts it boldly, while “Akari” cuts it in a cute, charming style.
